The Ministry of Education, University Grants Commission (UGC), and National Testing Agency (NTA) are preparing significant changes for the CUET UG 2027 examination. The proposed roadmap aims to streamline the entrance process, reduce student stress, and eliminate the need for multi-day exam schedules.

If you are preparing for CUET UG 2027, here is a detailed breakdown of all the key updates you need to know:

📌 Key Highlights of the Proposed CUET UG 2027 Pattern

  1. One Student – One Day Exam:
    • Under the new structure, candidates will no longer need to travel to test centers over multiple days.
    • A student will be able to complete all their chosen subject tests in a single day, saving time and travel expenses.
  2. Shorter Duration and Fewer Questions:
    • Previously, each subject exam lasted 60 minutes with 50 questions. Under the new proposed format, test duration per subject may be reduced to 40–45 minutes.
    • The total number of questions per subject is expected to drop to 35–40 questions.
  3. Revised Subject Limit (4 or 5 Subjects):
    • While students could previously select up to 5 subjects, UGC and NTA are evaluating whether to cap choices at 4 subjects.
    • If 5 subjects are retained, the exam will take approximately 200 minutes (~3.2 hours). If capped at 4 subjects, students can finish in 160 minutes.
  4. Uniform Admission Criteria:
    • Efforts are underway to standardize admission requirements across participating universities (such as aligning General Aptitude Test acceptance rules) to ensure a seamless application process.

🎯 What This Means for Students

These proposed reforms will make the CUET UG testing process more efficient, allowing candidates to complete their entrance requirements in a single session. Official guidelines and final notifications will be issued by the NTA following consultations with participating universities.
