Even as some positions have minimal direct contact with guests, each staff member has an essential role in forming and maintaining Christian community. The love of Christ, evidenced in our Water Street community, is the real impetus for change with our guests.

Job Summary: An Overnight Life Coach Assistant is an entry-level position designed to introduce new Life Coach team members to WSM's model of coaching guests towards sustainable restoration. A Life Coach Assistant is a developmental position with potential for growth and promotion on the Life Coach team or at WSM as a whole. As a Life Coach Assistant demonstrates maturity and capacity, a Life Coach Supervisor may assign additional Life Coaching responsibilities to further their professional development and growth. A Life Coach Assistant will assist staff with providing accountability and empowerment for guests to reach their self-identified goals. A Life Coach Assistant will work cooperatively with a team of Residential Life and Community Resources staff to actively participate in a safe and healing environment and uphold the mission, vision, purpose, and core values of WSM.

10. Able to fully support the Water Street Mission's Core Values and Ministry Philosophy.
11. · Above all, holds a love for Jesus and a recognition that ministry takes precedence over tasks.
12. Minister to guests, reflecting God's love for each individual through a non-judgmental, grace-filled relationship.
13. Weekend work is required; the specific schedule is subject to program needs. Life Coach Supervisor will assign weekend rotations.
14. Work holidays as assigned in the staff rotation.
15. Assist with incident management and de-escalation of situations on campus.
16. Function as point of contact for on-call Life Coach Supervisor in the event of an incident.
17. Be present in and manage Providence Night Shelter.
18. Monitor security cameras during shift.
19. Perform periodic walk-throughs of campus, monitoring locked doors and any security concerns.
20. Perform breathalyzer drug tests for Residential and Family Emergency Shelter guests, as directed or needed.
21. Be present and oversee Dining Hall coverage during breakfast.
22. Assist guests with showers, laundry, and shelter check-in/check-out.
23. Obtain needed items for guests (clothing, toiletries, etc.).
24. Communicate guest's needs to other Life Coaches for follow-up.
25. Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of assigned areas on campus.
26. Prepare beds for new guests in Providence Night Shelter.
27. Answer Access Center cell phone as assigned.
28. Assist in facilitating guest outcycles.
29. Manage inventory and stock supplies for Providence Night Shelter.
30. Maintain guest storage area and bedbug-exterminating heat chamber in Providence Night Shelter.
31. Refer guests in crisis to on-call Life Coach Supervisor, Senior Life Coach, or lead Life Coach on shift.
32. Scan documents into guest's records.
33. Maintain accurate guest information, including reporting and data management.
34. Attend team meetings, all-staff meetings, off-site trainings, or other meetings/trainings as assigned by Supervisor.
35. Perform all other duties as assigned.

This position is scheduled for 10:00 PM – 8:00 AM four days a week and is eligible for shift differential.

Role Specific Responsibilities

Education/ Experience :
A GED or high school diploma is required; Associate's degree in human services or related field is preferred. Minimum of 1 years' experience at organization(s) serving marginalized populations and/or in the areas of mental health, trauma, or addictions recovery preferred. Competency in Microsoft Office products required. Ability to work with a database (ex: Salesforce) is essential. Bilingual English-Spanish strongly preferred.
