Positions: Career Firefighter/EMT & Reserve Firefighter
Berthoud Fire Protection District is seeking applicants for both full-time Firefighter/EMTs and Reserve Firefighters.
A NTN test is not required for this position.

Individuals will have the opportunity/option to become a Reserve firefighter with BFPD if not hired for a full-time position. BFPD prides itself on hiring from within, with full time positions offered first to our Reserve firefighters.

Firefighter/EMT and Reserve Firefighter Minimum Requirements:
Must be 18 years of age
High school diploma or equivalent
Eligibility to work in the U.S.
Possess a valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record
Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check and medical evaluation
Possess a valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) or NFPA 1582 Compliant Fit for Duty (prior to conditional offer)
National Registry or State of Colorado EMT - Basic Certification
Current CPR certification (BLS Provider)
State of Colorado Firefighter I Certification or IFSAC equivalent
State of Colorado Hazmat Operations Certification or IFSAC equivalent
NIMS 100, 700
Note: All certifications must remain current through the time of the conditional offer. Out-of-state and Colorado Metropolitan Certification Board certifications will be considered if they meet the reciprocity requirements per the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control.
Desireable Certification:
NWCG S130/190 Firefighter Type II (must obtain within one year of hire)
Compensation:
Firefighter/EMT Salary Range: $71,935.00 - $92,581.00 (based on qualifications and experience). Benefit eligible. See website for more details.
Reserve Firefighter: $800.00/month stipend when fully certified. Not benefit eligible.
Work Schedule:
Firefighter/EMT: Responds to alarms and participate at either Berthoud Fire's Station 61 and/or Station 62 working 48/96 hour work shifts or approximately ten (10), 24-hour days a month.
Reserve Firefighters: Responds to alarms and participate at either Berthoud Fire's Station 61 and/or Station 62. The Reserve Firefighter shall work a minimum of 36 hours per month including 3 hours of company training.

Department Overview:
Berthoud Fire provides fire suppression, rescue, emergency medical services, wildland protection, extrication, hazardous materials response, risk reduction, dive/ice/swift water/rope rescue, and public safety education.
The District spans 103 square miles, servicing the Town of Berthoud and surrounding areas including Boulder, Larimer and Weld Counties. The district includes significant portions of US Highway 287 and Interstate 25 in addition to an 1,100 acre reservoir (Carter Lake).
We operate out of two stations with plans of expansion due to the growth in the surrounding community. Our department size allows greater opportunities for our firefighters to become a part of our special teams and wildland deployments. And due to our robust training program, each of our firefighters log over 300 training hours per year.
Berthoud Fire Protection District strives to provide the highest quality of service to Berthoud and its surrounding area. We also pride ourselves in hiring from within with 85% of our career firefighters starting as Reserve firefighters. Our Reserve firefighters receive experience and additional training with first priority for full-time, career positions.
