Job Title: Accounting Operations Manager 

Type: Contract-to-Hire

Location: Linthicum Heights, MD (HYBRID: 2 days in-office, 3 days remote)

Industry:  Nonprofit (via Addison Group)

Pay: $40–$45/hour (flexible based on experience)

 

About Our Client:

Addison Group is partnering with a mission-driven nonprofit organization to hire an experienced Accounting Operations Manager. This hybrid role is ideal for a finance professional with nonprofit experience and proven leadership skills looking to step into a high-impact, strategic role within a collaborative accounting team.

 

Job Description:

This position will oversee day-to-day financial operations and provide direct supervision to members of the accounting team. The Accounting Operations Manager will play a critical role in process improvement, compliance oversight, audit preparation, and cross-departmental collaboration.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage Accounts Payable and accounting support staff.
  • Ensure efficient and compliant processing of corporate disbursements and credit card transactions.
  • Review and approve journal entries and financial reconciliations.
  • Monitor cash flow and coordinate with banking partners on account activities.
  • Prepare audit and tax documentation and assist in annual tax return processes (Forms 990 and 990T).
  • Contribute to annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Train and onboard new finance team members and guide non-finance staff on policy changes.
  • Improve and document internal controls and financial procedures.
  • Provide backup support to senior financial leadership as needed.
  • Assist with special projects and participate in occasional on-site event support.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Accounting, Finance, or Business-related field).
  • Minimum 6 years of nonprofit accounting experience.
  • At least 4 years of supervisory experience.
  • Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP).
  • ERP experience preferred; Microsoft Dynamics experience a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across departments.
  • Hands-on experience with reconciliations, banking, tax prep, and general ledger oversight.

  • Work Schedule: Full-time - hybrid schedule (in-office Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 9 AM)
  • Interview Process: Two rounds (Teams with HR; in-person with Accounting team)
  • Onboarding: Federal background check and three supervisory references required (facilitated by Addison Group)
