About University
By an Act of Parliament (No. 25 of 2009), the Central University of Punjab was founded in 2009 along with other new Central Universities. Central University has finished a fantastic 13-year journey. University received a “A+” rating from NAAC in 2024 during its second accreditation cycle and placed 95th, 87th, 84th, and 81st in the University category of the NIRF in 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022, respectively.
It is credited with receiving the most research funds per capita. The university’s objective is to provide a broad variety of educational and research facilities across integrated and cross-disciplinary fields, to foster innovation in research, teaching, and learning, and to encourage the exchange of novel concepts, cutting-edge technologies, and fresh worldviews. It aspires to produce a workforce that is fired up and sensitive to local, regional, national, and international demands while also meeting the needs of business, industry, and academics. Through the Samarth Project, the institution is turning to electronic governance. The workforce has received training in twenty-one administrative modules to speed up reaction times, increase decision-making transparency, and assure a participatory style of government.
In March 2009, the state government donated a three-room Camp Office, which served as the university’s first home. Starting small but quickly, the institution agreed to rent a 37-acre campus that was once a defunct co-operative spinning mill on Mansa Road in Bathinda. The 500 acres of land in Ghudda village are currently being used to develop the university. The campus is environmentally and energy-friendly, and the GRIHA Council and TERI have provisionally recognised its Master Plan with a five-star certification. https://cup.edu.in/
